Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Had to Tell Astarion’s Actor to Dial Down the Horniness

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have uncovered a hilarious behind-the-scenes moment involving Astarion’s voice actor, Neil Newbon. A recently discovered developer note reveals that Larian Studios had to give him a very specific direction for a romance scene—telling him to sound “slightly horny. (ONLY SLIGHTLY, NEIL).”

Fans Find Hidden Dev Note in Game Files

Reddit user u/Arden-Nova discovered the note while digging through the game’s files using an unlocked version of the modding toolkit. The message was attached to a line from Astarion during a post-Cazador romance scene, where he says, “It’s time to try living again, with everything that life has to offer.”

Another player, u/Hyperspace_Towel, confirmed the discovery, sharing another view of the note using Moonglasses. Upon rewatching the scene, fans agreed that Newbon took the direction well, delivering a more subdued performance than his usual flirtatious tone.

Astarion’s Natural Charisma Strikes Again

Despite the devs’ attempt to rein in Astarion’s charm, many players feel like he just can’t help himself. As u/meanmagpie put it, “Even when he’s not supposed to sound horny, he sounds horny.” Some even joked that his stealth whisper is enough to make them uncomfortable.

Of course, the top comment from u/lulufan87 had one demand: “Release the horny take.” Whether that cut exists remains a mystery, but one thing is certain—Astarion’s voice is forever burned into fans’ hearts, sultry tone and all.
