Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Modders Remove Frustrating Shoe Durability Mechanic

Fans of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have already tackled one of the game’s most tedious mechanics—shoe durability. Thanks to a new mod, players no longer have to worry about their boots falling apart after just a few hours of adventuring.
The Problem With Shoe Durability
Warhorse Studios designed KCD2 to be an ultra-realistic medieval RPG, forcing players to manage hunger, sleep, and even the condition of their clothing and armor. Walking long distances wore down your shoes, requiring frequent trips to the cobbler. While this added realism, many players found it more annoying than immersive.
One frustrated fan even called it “the worst new mechanic in the game”, complaining that shoes barely lasted two hours before breaking.
The Mod That Saves Your Soles
Modder rhyBread released the Infinite Shoe Durability mod, which completely removes shoe wear and tear, letting players explore without worrying about constant repairs. It’s part of a larger series of mods that make the game easier, including:
- Increased carry weight
- Longer-lasting cleanliness
- No jump stamina loss
- Wealthier merchants
For those who still want some realism, an alternate version of the mod simply doubles shoe durability, making them last longer without breaking the game’s immersion.
A Small Change, A Big Improvement
While KCD2 is meant to be challenging, some mechanics cross the line from realism into tedium. For many players, keeping their boots in one piece shouldn’t be a constant struggle. Thanks to modders, adventurers can now focus on surviving medieval battles—without worrying about a trip to the cobbler every few hours.
