Monster Hunter Wilds Limits Free Character Edits—Extra Changes Will Cost You

The excitement for Monster Hunter Wilds is at an all-time high, with players currently diving into the beta ahead of its much-anticipated February release. However, a recent update has revealed a controversial restriction—players will only be able to edit their Hunter or Palico once for free. After that, additional edits will likely come at a price.
One Free Edit, Then You Pay
Capcom has confirmed that players will receive one free token to edit their Hunter and another for their Palico. If you want to change their appearance again, you’ll have to buy additional edit vouchers. While the exact pricing is still unknown, previous Monster Hunter titles suggest it could cost around $2.99 per edit.
Fans Aren’t Happy
This isn’t the first time Capcom has charged for character customization. Games like Monster Hunter: World, Rise, and Iceborne also required players to pay for additional edits. Even Monster Hunter Stories, a more casual RPG in the franchise, introduced a paywall for character changes.
Many fans are frustrated by this decision, arguing that players should be able to freely customize their characters. One gamer wrote, “Why not just let players make their characters the way they want? This makes no sense.”
The Hype Remains Strong
Despite this controversy, Monster Hunter Wilds remains one of February’s most anticipated releases. The beta has been extended by 24 hours due to PSN downtime, giving players even more time to experience the game before launch.
While the paid character edits may be disappointing, Monster Hunter Wilds is still set to deliver a thrilling new adventure for fans of the franchise. The big question is—will this controversial decision affect its success?
