NetEase Games Eyes Nintendo Switch 2 for Future Titles

NetEase Games, the developers behind Marvel Rivals, have expressed strong interest in developing games for the Nintendo Switch 2. During the 2025 DICE Summit in Las Vegas, NetEase confirmed that they have been in contact with Nintendo and are already working with development kits for the upcoming console.

Marvel Rivals Skipped the Original Switch Due to Hardware Limits

Marvel Rivals, a fast-paced hero shooter, never made its way to the original Nintendo Switch due to technical limitations. The game’s developers stated that the system couldn’t deliver an optimal experience for Marvel Rivals, making a port impossible. However, with the Switch 2 launching in 2025, NetEase is open to bringing their games to Nintendo’s new console—provided it offers the performance they need.

Switch 2’s New Features Could Benefit Marvel Rivals

One major factor that excites NetEase is the mouse-like functionality of the Switch 2’s Joy-Con controllers. Nintendo recently filed a patent demonstrating these new motion-sensing capabilities, which could be a game-changer for titles like Marvel Rivals that rely on precise aiming and fast movements.

More Switch 2 Details Coming Soon

Nintendo has confirmed that more official details about the Switch 2 will be revealed during a Nintendo Direct on April 2. This presentation could provide insight into the console’s full specs and capabilities—potentially confirming whether Marvel Rivals or other NetEase titles will make their way to the platform.

Marvel Rivals Expands Its Roster

Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals continues to grow. On February 21, Human Torch and The Thing will join Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, completing the Fantastic Four roster. This update will also bring mid-season balance changes, though NetEase recently walked back plans for a ranked reset after receiving backlash from players.

As for the future, NetEase’s interest in the Switch 2 suggests that more of their titles—possibly even Marvel Rivals—could find a home on Nintendo’s next-generation system. Fans will have to wait until April 2 to see if a Switch 2 version of Marvel Rivals becomes a reality.
