Path of Exile 2 to Overhaul Skills, Endgame, and Performance in Next Big Update

Path of Exile 2 is set to receive major gameplay changes, including skill rebalancing, expanded build diversity, and adjustments to its endgame. Developer Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has outlined these priorities in its latest development update, promising a fresh experience for players.
Upcoming Changes in Path of Exile 2
GGG’s early access title, released on December 6, 2024, has been receiving steady updates based on community feedback. In early February 2025, the studio shared a “State of Early Access” report, highlighting four key priorities:
- Skill and Build Rebalancing – Some skills will receive buffs, while others may be nerfed to improve game balance.
- More Build Diversity – GGG aims to introduce more “build-defining” unique items to encourage a wider variety of character builds.
- Endgame Adjustments – The current endgame progression has been criticized for harsh difficulty scaling and slow grinding. The developers are working on changes to improve pacing and fairness.
- Better Endgame Rewards – More enticing rewards are planned to make the endgame more rewarding and engaging.
Performance Fixes and Future Plans
Beyond gameplay tweaks, Path of Exile 2 will also receive performance improvements. The studio is collaborating with Microsoft to fix system freezes on Windows 11, while also working with Nvidia to resolve lingering driver-related crashes.
These updates are expected to roll out in version 0.2.0, marking a significant step in Path of Exile 2’s early access journey. With a focus on refining both gameplay and performance, GGG aims to create a smoother and more engaging experience for all players.
